Hreflang Inspector — Privacy Policy

Hreflang Inspector is a Chrome extension developed by Aplitec Informàtica, Avinguda de França 175, 17840 Sarrià de Ter, Girona, Spain.
What we collect
Nothing. Hreflang Inspector does not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal data, and does not record any information about the pages you visit. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no account system and no server component of any kind.
How the extension works
When you click the extension icon, it reads the following from the page you are currently viewing: the rel="alternate" hreflang annotations declared in the HTML head and in the HTTP response headers, the page title, the canonical URL, the meta robots directive and the html lang attribute.
This information is processed entirely inside your browser, displayed in the extension popup, and discarded when the popup closes. It is never transmitted anywhere.
The extension does not modify the pages you visit, does not inject content into them, and does not run in the background.
Site icons
The icon shown next to the inspected URL is read from your browser’s own local favicon cache through Chrome’s built-in favicon API. No third-party favicon service is contacted, so no information about the pages you inspect is disclosed to any external party.
Return-link checking
If you use the Check return links feature, your browser requests the alternate URLs that the inspected page itself declares, in order to verify that they link back to it. You grant permission for those specific domains at that moment, and you can revoke it at any time from chrome://extensions.
These requests are made directly by your browser to those sites. They do not pass through us, and we do not receive, see or log them.
CSV export
If you use Export CSV, the file is generated locally and saved by your own browser to your own device. It is never uploaded anywhere.
Locally stored data
The extension uses chrome.storage.session to hold a single temporary flag, so that a return-link check can resume if Chrome closes the popup in order to request permissions. It contains the URL of the page being inspected and a timestamp, expires after five minutes, and is deleted when the browser session ends. It never leaves your device.
Third parties
None. No user data is shared with anyone, because none is collected.
Changes to this policy
Any change to these practices will be published on this page and reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing before it takes effect.
